Meet Chante’ Pryor

Chante’ Pryer is a freelance writer and an Iberville Parish school employee. Her 20-year newspaper career as a Baton Rouge reporter and columnist placed her in various venue where she covered schools, city government, crime, and social and human-interest stories. Her column “Common Ground” covered many of her own personal experiences raising her children in the technology age, navigating marriage and juggling home, school and work.

Her interviews with everyday people often transformed mundane daily events into ‘must read’ stories including an afternoon spent following the school janitor who spoke and wrote poetry to uplift his staff every day. Her efforts to find a little “common ground” helped foster the points of view she delivered to her columns. Through the years, her stories have earned her several awards from the Louisiana Press Women’s Association, the Associated Press and Women in Media.

In addition to her writing career, she has worked as an educator teaching English and Journalism and yearbook classes. She is currently studying for her teaching certification in English and working as a school office manager. In 2020, she was named Support Staff Employee of the Year for her school district in Iberville Parish. She is a wife, mother of three teenagers and she enjoys listening to music, dancing, reading the Bible and both fiction and non-fiction novels and keeping up with the latest trends.
